How do I prevent chickens from coming onto outdoor living areas?

We would like to have our chickens rome freely in our yard but do not want them coming onto our decks. Is there a product that can prevent the chickens from coming on to these areas? Do you find this valuable?

No, you might have to fence them up. What I do is leave them in the fenced area until 1 hour before dark and then let them out. They stil get to eat green grass and they won't mess up your deck. your chickens go back in their coop an night by themselves, don't they? Do you find this valuable?
