I've always been a bird person, though I started off with parrots and parakeets. That was back when I lived in an apartment in New York City. Actually, I once did have a chicken briefly, when I lived in Brooklyn, but Brooklyn isn't a good place to keep chicks and my bedroom started to stink really bad, so I had to give it away. In any event, I'm now living all the way around the world in Tasmania, and I have a house, and a yard and a good friend had tons of chickens (or chooks as they're called downunder), so I thought, wow, I could so get into that, Particularly cause I have had no parrots since I've moved here.
Two isa browns later (great, great pets, and so tame), I'm eating lots of great eggs, having fun with the chooks and the dogs, and waiting for a pet silkie that my friend promised me (she's hatched a few). Later on, I might try breeding, but not yet. I'm enjoying my chickens immensely, as they are. |
